WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91¿ì»îÁÖ applauded the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on the passage of the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, which would make Juneteenth a federal holiday. The measure now goes to President Biden’s desk for his signature:
“Designating Juneteenth as a U.S. federal holiday is an important step toward building a more equitable and inclusive United States that is representative of all people,” said Jason Oxman, 91¿ì»îÁÖ President and CEO. “We applaud the U.S. Congress for passing this historic measure, and we look forward to President Biden signing the bill into law.
"While this designation marks an important change, it is long overdue and there is still so much more to be done to combat structural racism. The tech industry will continue to play a role in such efforts, including by continuing to put resources, funding, and energy both internally and externally into inclusion and representation throughout our workforce and the business community.”
