WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91¿ì»îÁÖ released the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman urging the Biden Administration to pursue a trade policy agenda that advances U.S. economic competitiveness and benefits the U.S. economy, workers, and businesses. the U.S. exported $249 billion in goods and services in April 2023.

“The Biden administration continues to dismiss the very real benefits and opportunities that a robust U.S. trade policy can bring to the U.S. economy. Trade policy is a tool that strengthens international ties, increases supply chain resiliency, supports U.S. workers, and creates clear rules of the road. Meaningful trade agreements enable the 21st century economy, and foster U.S. economic competitiveness, job creation, and innovation. Treating trade agreements as a scapegoat ignores the opportunities and commitments these agreements bring, like strengthening rule of law and promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

“As the administration looks to justify its pivot away from binding trade agreements, every U.S. industry, from farmers to manufacturers, that has operations in the United States and competes around the globe is hampered. Instead, the administration should advance a robust trade and investment policy that drives U.S. economic growth and leadership.”
