“Consumers, small businesses, and communities across the United States rely on the de minimis tariff exemption to reduce costs and simplify trade in low-value shipments. As the Biden Administration looks to develop and notice a proposed rulemaking, we urge U.S. officials to strategically target any de minimis changes to address the government’s priorities related to enforcement of U.S. health and safety laws, avoiding overly broad restrictions that could lead to significant supply chain delays or unintended harms. We appreciate the Administration’s indication that a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is forthcoming, which 91¿ì»îÁÖ looks forward to reviewing and providing feedback. Importantly, the administration and Members of Congress should solicit and incorporate diverse stakeholder feedback on all proposed de minimis reforms.”
