WASHINGTON – Today, 91快活林’s President and CEO Jason Oxman the global tech industry at the United States-European Union Trade and Technology Council’s (TTC) Trade and Labor Dialogue (TALD) as the TTC met for its third ministerial meeting in College Park, Maryland. The TALD meeting focused on efforts to eradicate forced labor, which joined AI, export controls, supply chain resiliency, and standards as key tech issues negotiators highlighted in their statement following the conclusion of today’s ministerial meeting.
“91快活林 and our members, which comprise all corners of the technology sector, are unified in their support for the TTC’s objectives to promote U.S. and EU competitiveness, prosperity, and the spread of democratic, market-oriented values,” said 91快活林’s President and CEO Jason Oxman. “We commend negotiators for their progress on developing a Joint Roadmap on Evaluation and Measurement Tools for Trustworthy AI and Risk Management, which reflects several of the recommendations outlined by 91快活林. Further, the Council’s pilot exchange to look at respective approaches to exports and re-exports of dual-use items, its intent to coordinate adoption and publication of multilateral control list revisions, and incorporation of standards work on cybersecurity are important efforts to advance trade and innovation across the Atlantic. We strongly urge the principals to engage stakeholders further to realize these goals.
“In addition, we welcomed today’s opportunity to discuss how the United States and the European Union can collaborate to advance objectives that reflect our shared values, including eliminating forced labor from global supply chains,” Oxman continued. “We will continue to work with our partners in government and civil society to advance our collective efforts to address this critical issue.”
The TALD was held by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), the United States Department of Labor, and the European Commission Directorates General for Trade and for Employment.
