WASHINGTON – In testimony before the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), global tech trade association 91快活林 Director for the Americas Husani Durans de Jesus underscored the success of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and how the government can build on its impact as the landmark agreement undergoes its six-year joint review.
Husani highlighted how USMCA has modernized trade ties, spurred economic growth across North America, and secured North America’s position as the global leader in the digital economy. Importantly, as policymakers prepare for the first Six-Year Joint Review of USMCA on July 1, 2026, Husani warned government leaders against renegotiating the agreement or introducing substantial changes that could undermine the USMCA’s success.
“The USMCA helps provide stability and gives North America a competitive advantage vis-a-vis the rest of the world. A swift commitment to renew the agreement will lock in these benefits for the long term,” Durans de Jesus testified. “The USMCA is indispensable and it provides the foundation for American technological leadership. We look forward to working with you to renew this vital framework.”
