WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91¿ì»îÁÖ issued the following reaction from its President and CEO Jason Oxman following United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Katherine Tai’s testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee:

“Today, when pressed by Members of Congress from both parties on concerns regarding the Biden Administration’s retreat from digital trade leadership, Ambassador Tai deflected. Her responses downplayed the critical importance of U.S. digital trade to the economy, sidestepped significant stakeholder concerns about USTR retreating on enforcement of trade barriers, and demonstrated a lack of urgency in completing USTR’s review of the Section 301 tariffs on imports from China despite the significant harms on U.S. businesses and consumers. USTR must engage on these and many additional trade issues and work with the U.S. Congress, industry, and other stakeholders to restart U.S. global trade leadership.”
