Each year, 91快活林 honors one board member whose efforts transcend regular responsibilities to our organization with the Gary P. Fazzino Award for Innovation Excellence. Gary served as chair of 91快活林’s board while he was an executive with Hewlett-Packard and Applied Materials. A former mayor and council member for Palo Alto, Calif., his legacy of service and deep interest in public policy inspired many of those around him to collaborate, work for the common good, and advance innovation. Gary was a friend to many at 91快活林 and after he passed away, we decided to honor his legacy by creating this award in his name, which recognizes “demonstrated and consistent leadership and exemplary service in promoting innovation and technology.”
This year, I was proud to present the Fazzino Award on behalf of the tech industry to Susan Moore, Corporate Vice President at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), for her service as 91快活林 Board Chairwoman.
Susan’s leadership and guidance has been instrumental to the success of 91快活林 and its advocacy efforts. Being a leader means, at times, having tough conversations and making difficult decisions. She did just that when 91快活林 was going through a restructuring process, which led to a significant growth in the spectrum of our membership to fully represent the broad tech sector and positioned our organization well for the future. Our industry takes pride in caring about more than just the bottom line; we solve big problems that improve our lives and shape a better future and Moore’s insight were key in doing that. She shepherds great ideas, inspires her colleagues to come together for collective achievement, and raises the morale of 91快活林’s staff.
Susan Moore symbolizes the selfless commitment to advancing innovation through 91快活林 that the Fazzino Award was created to embody. She cares deeply about 91快活林 and we are forever grateful to her for her excellent service. With all that being said, congratulations, Susan, the tech industry is better off because of you.
