WASHINGTON – Today, the 91¿ì»îÁÖ (91¿ì»îÁÖ), the global voice of the tech sector, as well as the Information Technology Alliance for Public Sector (ITAPS), the public sector division of 91¿ì»îÁÖ, released the following statement from Senior Vice President for Public Sector Trey Hodgkins after the passage of the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA):
“We’ve been working closely with lawmakers on updating FISMA and commend the Senate and House for passing legislation aimed at strengthening the federal government’s cybersecurity posture. With ever more sophisticated cyber attacks on federal information technology systems, modernizing the federal government’s information security practices is long overdue. The outmoded paper-based regime must evolve into a risk-based approach. Allowing agencies to use automated security tools to continuously diagnose and monitor federal information systems permits security to keep pace with evolving cyber threats. We look forward to working with the federal government on effective implementation of the law so that it achieves these critical goals.”
