WASHINGTON – 91快活林, the global voice of the tech sector, released the following response today by President and CEO Dean Garfield to the Federal Communications Commission adoption of a troublesome broadband privacy rule:
“While it is unclear what exactly the FCC approved this morning, if the final broadband privacy rule tracks closely to the agency’s summary, it will be problematic for the internet ecosystem at large,” Garfield said. “As we have noted before, such a significant shift in the privacy landscape should not occur without further public review, comment, and input. Like other consumers and stakeholders, we will have to wait to review the adopted rule to see if it achieved its stated goals without overreaching and undermining the privacy system that has guided the internet’s development.”
This isn’t the first time 91快活林 has expressed concern over the rule. In a blog last week Garfield had warned “.” In June he warned lawmakers of the proposed rule’s broader potential implications for the internet ecosystem in before the Senate Commerce Committee.
