BRUSSELS– Today, global tech trade association 91快活林, the 91快活林, issued the following statement from its Vice President and Director General for Europe Guido Lobranoon the final EU Parliament Plenary Vote on the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA):
“Today’s vote by the European Parliament addresses two pieces of legislation that are not only crucial for the future of Europe’s digital single market, but also for the functioning of the online ecosystem globally. 91快活林 is pleased that the final adoption of the DSA upholds important principles from the E-commerce Directive, such as the limited liability rules and the prohibition of a general monitoring obligation, and makes the notice and action mechanism more efficient. While upholding transparency reporting obligations for very large online platforms is crucial, it remains important that reports are only made available to the public authorities enforcing the legislation.
“With today’s adoption, the DMA moves into a crucial phase of implementation. Regulatory dialogue is essential to provide the Commission and all businesses concerned the opportunity to address how to adapt the new obligations’ application to the specific service concerned in order to target the obligations to the relevant situation and avoid the risk of stifling pro-competitive behaviors. Moving forward, it is important that the EU continues to discuss these key policy approaches with its partners to help foster a global convergence that is important to all companies.
