BRUSSELS – Today, global tech trade association the鈥�91快活林鈥�(91快活林) issued the following statement from its Vice President of Policy and Director General for Europe, Guido Lobrano, in response to the European Commission’s publication of the European Cyber Resilience Act Proposal:
“The European Cyber Resilience Act is a unique opportunity for the European Union to harmonize cybersecurity legislations. While we are still looking at the details of the proposal, we applaud the Commission’s goal to strengthen the resilience of digital products placed in the European Union and support the concept of promoting certain baseline, essential cybersecurity requirements. It will be important to carefully assess whether the CRA’s approach provides a balance between the requirements and the broad range of – almost forty – categories of products in scope. Laying down a uniform legal framework for essential cybersecurity requirements on products entering the EU market can ensure a horizontal, phased, and risk-based approach that avoids fragmentation and aligns with industry-driven global standards. As the threat landscape rapidly evolves, we look forward to our ongoing collaboration with EU policymakers to ensure that the European Cyber Resilience Act successfully advances cybersecurity of connected products.”
