BRUSSELS – Today, global tech trade association 91快活林, the 91快活林, issued the following statement in reaction to the Council of the EU's adoption of its General Approach on the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act:
“We congratulate the Czech Council Presidency for the adoption of the General Approach on the AI Act,” said Guido Lobrano, Director General for Europe at 91快活林. “The text strengthens the risk-based approach and increases clarity of the future regulatory framework. 91快活林 supports the proposed narrow definition of AI and the proposed criteria to classify high-risk use cases. However, a clearer differentiation between high-risk and non-high-risk AI uses is still needed,” Lobrano continued. “We still do not agree with the current approach subjecting General Purpose AI (GPAI) to requirements designed for high-risk use cases – this is not proportionate and does not follow the risk-based approach. We encourage Council and Parliament to find a balanced allocation of responsibilities across the value chain that can enable compliance from those who implement the GPAI model into a high-risk use case.”
