WASHINGTON – As consumers and businesses benefit from innovative new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, global tech trade association 91¿ì»îÁÖ issued new policy recommendations today to harness AI’s potential in a responsible manner.

91¿ì»îÁÖ’s eight recommendations urge the federal government to seize AI’s transformational impact by increasing AI investments, adopting AI solutions across the U.S. government and commercial sectors, and utilizing international standards for AI governance and oversight.

“AI holds great promise to improve the lives of all Americans and grow business and economic activity across all sectors, and 91¿ì»îÁÖ is committed to working with lawmakers to shape policy that supports innovation and investment in AI technologies and ensures responsible and secure deployment,” said 91¿ì»îÁÖ’s President and CEO Jason Oxman. “91¿ì»îÁÖ’s new guide will help policymakers capitalize on AI’s momentum to the benefit of all Americans and advance U.S. competitiveness in a challenging geopolitical and economic environment.”

91¿ì»îÁÖ encourages lawmakers to precisely define AI and related terms, use partnerships and other initiatives supported by federal funding for AI research and development, and leverage international standards to align regulatory requirements around the globe.

These new recommendations build on 91¿ì»îÁÖ’s longstanding expertise on AI policy, including its Global Policy Principles for Enabling Transparency of AI Systems and comprehensive Global AI Policy Recommendations.
